They say that everyone looks better in red, which is why the crowd at Paint the Town Rouge, a benefit for ARCK (Art Resource Collaborative for Kids) looked so smashing.
The Moulin Rouge-themed evening had a louche, Left-Banky feel, with lots of feathers and berets, but a blessed dearth of mimes. Seen percolating throughout the Lenox Hotel’s ballroom: Founder Sara Mraish Demeter, unsinkable octogenarian Doris Yaffe, party fixture Josh Zakim, the devastatingly handsome Tony Corey, painter extraordinaire Percy Fortini-Wright, nabobs Harry Collings and Dan Moon, smooth operator Olivia Ives-Flores, raven-haired beauty Amy Gallant Sullivan, mistress of ceremonies Ms. Kris Knievil, attorney-at-large Stephen Kunian, Red Sox panjandrum David Friedman and tireless creative Paul Reynolds.
The balloon raffle kept things popping, while the silent auction included doozies like a Les Paul guitar with a ridiculously low opening bid, and appropriate foods like French fries and croque-monsieurs were served.
The evening’s best exchange: “I believe we’ve met before.”
“I have no doubt alcohol was involved.” ◆
